Please do not simply release your unwanted pet in a park, pond, or wilderness area thinking that he will be better off. Most of the commonly available species in the pet trade will not survive our harsh winters here in Idaho, and those that can survive will often displace our own native species. Red eared sliders are an example of an introduced species that will aggressively compete with native species like the western painted turtle.

If you can no longer care for your Turtle or Tortoise, please be a responsible pet owner and find your pet a new family that will care for him.  He is counting on you to make the right decision for his life.

ADVERTISE  Talk to people. Get permission to put up flyers at your local Veterinarians office. Place an ad in the local newspaper, on craigslist.org (it's free), or any other venue you may find to advertise your pet.  Please hold on to your animal until you find an appropriate home.  The less stress on the animal, the easier the transition to a new home.  Be a responsibility pet owner.

TURTLE TALK RESCUE  We keep a list of people looking to adopt a specific species of Turtle/Tortoise.  We may be able to match you with a potential adopter.  When we get a match, we will contact you.  If both parties agree, we will pass on your phone number to the potential adopter, then step out of the picture.  Our job is done.

NOTE:  These potential adopters are simply people that have contacted us looking for a specific animal.  We do not know them, so be sure to ask questions, and screen them carefully.  Feel free to tactfully deny them your animal if you feel it will not be a good home.  This service is for re-homing animals only.  We do not offer this service to breeders, companies or individuals in the pet trade industry.

Let us know if you have an animal needing a new home.  Be patient...good things take time.

Just e-mail us at: turtletalkrescue@msn.com  with pictures and a write-up on your animal.

AS A LAST RESORT, if you do need to surrender your animal to us, we charge a $50 drop-off fee. The hefty fee is to cover vet checks and/or any medical cost that my occur.

NOTE:  We can not accept Aquatic Turtles at this time as we do not have an appropriate set-up.  We are hoping in the future we can help, but for now we must say no.

Turtle Talk Rescue, Inc. may deny accepting any animal into the rescue.
